. Secure mail

Six types of access to email
The user has six full-scope means of receiving email.

  1. POP3 and secure POP3
  2. IMAP4 and secure IMAP4
  3. WebMail - graphical web interface (optional SSL)
  4. Microsoft® Outlook via MAPI with Kerio Outlook Connector
  5. Microsoft Entourage through WebDAV
  6. Wireless email using handheld devices such as BlackBerry, Treo™, and PocketPC

Here is a list of services available in Kerio MailServer. KMS offers all modern email services and all of them can run on secure channels (SSL encryption)

Multi-domain mail server
Kerio MailServer supports multiple domains. Each domain contains its own set of users, groups, email addresses, and mailing lists.

Sending email
SMTP and WebMail are used for sending email and either can run in a secure mode, where data is encrypted using SSL.

SMTP advanced option

Retrieving email using IMAP
In addition to retrieving mail using the POP3 protocol, Kerio Mail Server allows the user to work with the more advanced IMAP protocol.

The philosophy behind IMAP is that all messages and folders are stored on the server. The user's email program is a true client, caching messages locally from the mail server. The clear advantage of this is the ability to work with up-to-date email from more than one workstation, while the current state is continually synchronised with the server on each of the workstations.

Kerio MailServer supports all IMAP clients such as Apple Mail client and Thunderbird on the desktop, and VersaMail™ and ChatterEmail on handheld devices.

Using BlackBerry with Kerio MailServer
Kerio MailServer allows mobile users to send and receive email directly from their BlackBerry devices and take advantage of push-based, over-the-air messaging.

For email synchronisation with your Webclient account, refer to http://support.kerio.com/kb/228 for configuration instructions.

Kerio MailServer connects directly with Treo and Windows Mobile devices over the air without a third party client or middleware.

Additional benefits
Authentication to relay SMTP server
Download of email using ETRN

Kerio MailServer can send email either directly using MX DNS records, or using a relay mail server.
