The most eagerly anticipated feature is the new server-based address book, which supports client contact management and sharing via the WebMail interface. Using the LDAP protocol and the included synchronization agent, contacts can also be stored and updated locally in Outlook Express. The synchronization agent also supports folder sharing in Kerio MailServer so that email stored locally in Outlook Express folders can be made instantly available to authorized users.

For larger networks, directory services can greatly simplify network client management, and having a mail server that can store and update accounts using the directory contributes to this benefit. Active Directory, Microsoft's solution on Windows 2000 Server, is a popular LDAP compliant product that never natively connected to any product other than MS Exchange - until now.
